I just got the old school stamps with the ink pad so that I would always have the same stamp and I would just be able to get new ink pads.

Any recommendations on types of stamps? Preinked vs self inking?

Wouldn't you also always have the same stamp if you got a pre-inked or a self inking stamp???

You have to refill it or replace it. I just opted to replace the inkpad whenever. I hardly ever stamp anything...and I have two different species of stamps...

I understand the difference between the different types of stamps. I guess I am just not seeing how throwing away and buying a new ink pad is any easier than adding ink to a reusable stamp.

I recommend the embosser because it's more fun and never runs out of ink :)

If I remember correctly, I thought I saw something in the Illinois requirements that said a raised stamp wasn't adequate for design approvals. So, to me, you'd need to have a regular inked stamp vs. an embosser.

Yes of course check your state's requirements first!

I got both an embosser and a self-inking stamp. Assuming I'll ever have to actually stamp anything, I'm sure the ink stamp is the only one I'll ever actually use. But the embosser is really cool and I couldn't help but get it as well.
