I always thought he was overrated. Solid player, but not the baseball god people make him out to be. And I was a college student in the Bronx when they were winning all those World Series. I never got the hype.

 
I have heard jokes that the Yankees are already considering putting him on IR and just taking him "on tour" to make appearances but not actually play.

The yankess last regular season game for 2014 is against the Sox in Fenway. The local news said that the average ticket price for that game (obviously in the secondary market as for all intents and purposes Sox/Yankees tickets sell out before they even go on sale) is now at $750 driven by Jeter's farewell.

 
I'm a sox fan, but you gotta give credit where it's due. Jeter has been a solid contributor for a long time. It's class acts like him that promote the game of baseball. A-rod on the other hand is a ****-bum.
