The PE (Civil) Review Course will have a dramatically different structure to it starting with the August-October offering. The start date is August 13, 2013. The noteworthy changes are:

1. You must buy the All In One book on your own. It used to be included as course material, but it is both cheaper and expeditious for the students to order their own copy, should they choose to use it, either as their primary or secondary reference. The cost reduction more than offsets this.

2. Alternate ‘lectures’ are now converted to pure problem solving sessions. These problems will be chosen carefully by the instructor, so as to have the necessary variety and coverage of necessary knowledge areas. Students are encouraged to send in specific questions they want to see discussed. Approximately 30 problems will be discussed in a typical 3-hour session.

3. A capstone session is added at the end of the course (lecture 21) where ‘last minute’ questions from all 5 subject areas will be discussed. This is envisioned as a student-led session, where the class participants are encouraged to ask questions (either broad subject based, or specific question based), to be addressed by the instructor. This addition increases the direct contact time for the course from 60 hours to 63 hours

4. The cost to enroll in the 63-hour course is now $800, which can be further lowered by $100 if registration is completed early (more than 45 days in advance of the start date). The anticipated start date for the October 25, 2013 PE exam is August 13, 2013. The deadline for early registration is June 29, 2013.

5. Candidates who are unsuccessful in the PE exam (the one administered immediately following the conclusion of the review sessions) are welcome to attend the next course sessions at no charge.

The features of the highly successful course that remain unchanged are:

1. All lectures taught by Dr. Indranil Goswami, who has taught the PE Review for 12 years.

2. Course delivery is via live online WEBINARS. The meeting time is Tuesdays and Thursdays 6 pm – 9 pm Eastern Time (EDT or EST). Lecture 1 is a Tuesday. So is Lecture 21.

3. Lectures recorded and archived on Google Plus. Lecture videos are uploaded to Google Plus within 12 hours of completion of the live lecture. Never miss a lecture!

4. Approximately 600 pages of course notes (PDF) are shared with students upon registration. So, with early registration, you can start your personal review ahead of the course start.

5. Approximately 300 practice problems (PDF). These are organized into 10 sets – one AM and one PM set or each subject. These are also shared with students upon registration.

COST

The enrolment cost for the course is $800. Early registration (more than 45 days in advance of the start date) can reduce this fee to $700. Included in this fee are course notes and practice problems as well as a full-length, self-managed practice exam (in the depth area of the candidate’s choice), which is given at the end of the course.

The recommended references are Civil Engineering All In One PE Exam Guide, 2nd edition by Indranil Goswami (McGraw Hill, 2012) and Civil Engineering Reference Manual, 13th edition by Michael Lindeberg (Professional Publications, 2012). Students are urged to utilize all relevant codes and standards as well as any supplementary materials, particularly for their depth area.

PASS GUARANTEE

Candidates who are unsuccessful in the PE exam (the one administered immediately following the conclusion of the review sessions) are welcome to attend the next course sessions at no charge.
