I am incredibly fortunate in that my company paid for everything - all of my testing materials, test registration, hotel and dinner the night before the exam. They offered to pay my fees to get my license in IN after I passed, but I figured I could spend $50 of my own money given how much they provided for me.

It's a bit of a bummer that it's so expensive to take and prepare for the PE.

Missouri Application Fee - $100

NCEES Exam Fee - $265

Fedex original application - $9

Hotel the night before - $140

Travel cost 135 miles each way to exam site

$20 dinner - night before

$10 lunch - day of

About $570 for reference material (NCEES, Camara, Wildi, Grainger, Beaty)

SchoolofPE $990

Already owned NEC handbook and NESC.

$25 for a rolling box to carry references in to the test

$40 for two TI-36X Pro calculators

$7 for post-it note flags
$30 for misc supplies (ant-acids, earplugs, zip lock bags, trail mix, chips, bottled water)

Stamp is paid for directly by the company,

So of my out of pocket cost (2206+mileage) they reimbursed $500 for study/references and the registration/application fees. So $865 total. Passed the first time, I'm not second-guessing a single cent....except maybe I could have borrowed the back-up calculator.

I spent time as well....

Money wise I did not ask for reimbursement, my company puts zero importance on the p.e., it is strictly for my résumé.

I spent around $500 total for registration, MERM and practice tests.

Now if I had failed this time, I probably would have paid for dr. Tom's course.

holy crap how did you people spend so much! i think i was about 600 bucks. lindburg, sample test and the test fees. ?????? Maybe 700. who spent 3k! youch!

Well it's $475 for the application fees (in Oregon), so you had a tight budget for study materials or your state is much cheaper.

I spent about $50 buying Ethel the blue haired proctor lunch and flowers so she'd look the other way during the afternoon. Best money I ever spent.
