Maximum Number of Letters on Stamp?

4 posts in this topic

Does anyone know if there's a maximum number of letters of your name that you can put on your stamp? Also if special characters are allowed? I'm wondering because not only am I ethnic, I also hyphenated my last name when I got married so it's really long. I wonder if I can abbreviate my name on the stamp.

Yes, you can abbreviate in the great state of California.

Here's the language of the law: " The seal may contain an abbreviated form of the licensee’s given name or a combination of initials representing the licensee’s given name provided the surname listed with the Board appears on the seal and in the signature. "

You can see this info on pages 11 and 12 of this PDF: http://www.pels.ca.g.../boardrules.pdf

I hope this helps!
