  1. I got mine in the mail a couple of days ago...almost exactly a month after learning about me passing. It is now with Michaels for a custom frame...excited!
  2. This is just one exam at one point in time...I believe that all this exam does is establish 'Minimum' capability...I would probably not pass this exam next year if I don't study for it and go take the exam cold...what does that tell me? That the only thing the little knowledge we gained to pass the exam tells us is that we still have a LOT more to learn...and like someone above said, getting a PE has made me more modest and aware of my own flaws, and I wish there is never a time when I feel too proud to say "I don't know" to something...
  3. So who all passed? I was able to make the cut
  4. I see...so it varies across states...anyone from Colorado?
  5. I know this might be a bit too eager of me, but I was wondering after how long typically can we lookup our name and obtain our license numbers after passing the PE exam? Folks who have passed prior, do you remember if it long or not?
  6. Passed Control Systems exam ! So relieved this is out of my life...I have a baby on the way you see....I AM A P-E! YAY!!!
  7. School of Hard Knocks (There are no review courses available for the Control Systems Exam!) Control Systems PASS!!!!!!
  8. How did you guys feel about the Control systems PE exam this time in 2016? I felt it was fairly in line with them not asking what we have in our reference books...seemed more experience based to me than number crunching only...I thought it was a pretty tricky exam with a lot of mine fields thrown out away...they made it REALLY easy to pick the wrong answer choice I felt...Also, tons of questions from Liptak...anyway, what did you think?

  10. Which pressure relief reference did you bring? I will plan on getting it too. I too had an entire suitcase but obviously that didnt work out. I have Liptaks books so that is not an issue but I went to the Colombian site you mention and downloaded a couple of other resources - thanks. I know the symbols you are talking about..I know of them and also the ISA standard that contains them...and I also studied zeroing and calibration from two separate texts. Oh well, thanks for your inputs anyway. Much appreciated.
  11. congrats Cali_eng. Any advice on how to pass this exam? Ive been trying since the last two years and failing! I studied four months for this exam and scored 15 points less (40/88) than the first time (55/88). I think I missed the first time by like one or two questions. Anyway, ANY advice would be much appreciated. I want this out of my life. Thanks!
  12. Yup! Exactly, the prep fools you into believing that you know something...and the exam is completely different...not sure how to tame this idiotic excuse of a test next year..
  13. Congratulations on passing. I agree that when I failed again, I was pretty shocked as I felt I was doing well throughout the exam, but I guess I got tricked. I am completely confused about how to study for it the third time around as there are no other new reference materials available that I may use and have an iota of confidence for passing. I have studied most of the books out there and dont know what to do now. Any advice would be highly appreciated. Do you feel that you needed to have a very deep understanding of the concepts? I hardly used the calculator myself. The prep material just doesnt cover what they ask on the exam.
  14. I am shattered as I failed the Control Systems exam the second time around..I had scored a 55/80 in my first attempt..and this time I put in an extra 4 months and scored 40/80...a 15 point drop...Compared the two diagnostics sheets...and it was shocking to realize that where I did well the first time I gave it was exactly where I slipped this time..but the exams are so broad I just cannot know how to answer it all...surprised so many people pass this exam and I cannot..there are folks at work who I advise on how to execute designs..and they have PE in control systems and I dont...the PEs I work with dont even have a grasp of the basics or they have forgotten...it feels so lop sided...anyway, I guess I will wait another year and go at it again next October (Control systems is offered only once in Oct). IF anyone could suggest what to do differently this time..PLEASE share your thoughts..as I want to break out of this cycle next year..thanks!
  15. Yeah, probably a good idea taga_ilog...I am not sure you can study hard and pass the controls PE...its completely random..I know how hard I studied because a major promotion was at stake here...and now I will not get it setting me and my family back financially and time-wise...I will switch to another discipline..control systems with its lack of references and sample problems is just not worth it.
