  1. Sounds like a good setup. I do like the Moto SB modems and currently run one of the more elite models at home. And as much as I despise their business practices and lack of customer support, TWC is generally unmatched with respect to UL/DL speeds (not counting Google fiber). Good to hear from you CW. Any recommendations for a cheap laptop? (Sorry, I didn't phrase the original question well). I'm still around and still reading, but I've cut posting waaaaaay down across the interwebz. Ya it sounded like you had already been given a recommendation for a laptop. You're going to be hard pressed to find a laptop for <$300 unless you try your luck at something used. Generally the base for bare min. specs is right around $400. Otherwise you are looking at a "netbook" which I would highly advise against. Another option if that is your price range would be a tablet with a detachable/remote keyboard and maybe a monitor as well. But even then your cost savings won't be that substantial. I just made some recommendations (in order of preference) for another friend who was on a pretty tight budget. Take a look and see if you have any further questions. 1. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=9623345&CatId=4935 2. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=9126288&CatId=4935 3. http://www.amazon.com/HP-350-G1-Performance-Professional/dp/B00Q3J64EI/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1426708252&sr=1-4&keywords=hp+350+g1 4. http://www.amazon.com/HP-K4L54UT-Notebook-Graphics-Professional/dp/B00PG80KT2/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1426708252&sr=1-2&keywords=hp+350+g1 I'll have a look, thanks. I figure office Depot/Max or Best Buy might also have a 'limited supply' promo for the sub $300 price.

  3. Got a recommendation for a dirt cheap (<$300) laptop for use solely as a wifi internet/email computer (TWC Everyday low price for ISP). Looking at a Motorola SBG6580 as modem/router. Thoughts?
  4. BTW, as for recommendations for a vehicle for RG's kid, either a 98-00 Ford Ranger or a 95-02 Cavalier with the 2.2. Both dead reliable, if unexciting and both are quite safe. I'd recommend stick for both.
  5. I'm pretty sure Gen4 shared more chassis parts with the Gen3 than the SN95 Mustang shared with the Fox. Or if not more, about the same.
  6. Generally, high stress, high cycled parts are replaced at depot overhaul with new parts. The AF has rebuilding/restomodding airframes down to a science.

Every time I see Chloe, I think of Gail the Snail. "She's squeezing it!" "Yeah, that's what she does."
  9. Happy bday eb! Since t was earth day, too, I burne a tire Android u down a tree. I shoved the tree down a strm drain. It kinda got stuck, soi pouree old motor oil on it,and down it went!
  10. In an effort to (maybe) get a pay raise and (definitely) open up other avenues to pursue in the future, I'm considering taking the two tests to become an ICC CBO. Has anyone here gone through the process, and any general thoughts, comments? I learned about a month ago that the local counties may start requiring their building officials to have a Masters, so that would put me ahead of the game versus a lot of the local players. Plus, it looks like there are two tests to pass w/in 3 years of one another, with a pretty high cyclic rate on when test can be retaken. If anyone has taken the tests, is it kinda like the others where if you have a good grasp on how to use a table of contents, use an index, and remember to read the footnotes, you're in good shape?

  14. Admit it. That's when the bitter tears came.
  15. That was me as a little one. Me too. I had those big pine blocks that I loved. I need to get them back from my parents house, now that my neice and nephew are well over a decade past using them.
